Another trip in the Carolinas

I have to tell you all about our recent RV adventure through the Carolinas. It was such an amazing experience, and I think you and your family would absolutely love it. We discovered so many hidden gems and had a blast at every stop. Let me take you through the highlights—who knows, maybe it'll spark some inspiration for your next getaway!

We kicked off our journey in Charleston, and wow, what a start! Charleston is like stepping into a living history book, full of charm and character. The streets are lined with these gorgeous, colorful houses that make you feel like you've traveled back in time. We spent a day just wandering around, soaking in the history. The kids were wide-eyed at the old forts and plantations. We even took a horse-drawn carriage ride through the city, which was such a cool way to see everything.

One of the highlights was dinner at a cozy little restaurant where we had the best shrimp and grits. Seriously, it was like a warm hug in a bowl—so delicious! We also hit up the open-air markets, which were full of local crafts and goodies. The kids picked out some souvenirs, and we got to chat with the locals, who were super friendly and full of great tips for our trip.

From Charleston, we headed to Myrtle Beach, and let me tell you, it was like switching gears from a calm, historical vibe to a full-on fun fest! Myrtle Beach is all about sun, sand, and endless entertainment. The kids were in heaven with all the amusement parks and the massive boardwalk. We spent our days lounging on the beach, building epic sandcastles, and even tried a bit of boogie boarding. The water was perfect, and the whole area had such a lively, fun atmosphere.

One evening, we decided to ride the Sky Wheel, and it was magical. We went up just as the sun was setting, and the view of the coastline was breathtaking. You could see the whole strip of Myrtle Beach lit up below us. The kids were thrilled, and honestly, so were we! It felt like a scene straight out of a movie. Afterward, we strolled along the boardwalk, grabbed some cotton candy, and just soaked in the vibe. Myrtle Beach definitely delivered on the fun and excitement.

After a few days of beach life, we craved a bit of nature, so we made our way to Congaree National Park. This place was a hidden gem—a peaceful escape from the busy beaches. We rented kayaks and paddled through the serene, swampy forests. The towering trees and quiet waters made it feel like we were in another world. The kids loved spotting wildlife; we saw turtles, birds, and even a few deer. It was such a peaceful and grounding experience, a perfect way to slow down and appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

South Carolina RV Park

Finally, we found our way to Conway, a charming little town close to Myrtle Beach. It was the perfect spot to wrap up our adventure. We stayed at Crooked Oaks RV Park, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The park was cozy, with spacious sites and all the amenities we needed. The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. We spent our evenings around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and telling stories. The kids loved the freedom to run around and explore. It felt like a true home away from home. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it. It's a fantastic base for exploring both the coast and the inland areas.

And, of course, we couldn't resist diving into the local food scene. We made a point to stop at every farmers' market we could find. The fresh produce was amazing, especially the peaches—so juicy and sweet! We also got to try some homemade jams and local snacks. And oh, the barbecue! We made a mini-tour of the South Carolina BBQ Trail, tasting different styles of barbecue from various regions. Each place had its own unique twist, from mustard-based sauces to vinegar and pepper. It was a delicious journey, and we definitely left with full bellies and happy hearts.

Throughout the trip, we made sure to pack smart. With limited space in the RV, we stuck to the essentials: comfy bedding, a portable grill, and plenty of board games for family nights. We also brought along some outdoor gear, like fishing rods and a kite, for those spontaneous moments. And let me tell you, the kids had a blast flying the kite on the beach and trying their luck at fishing in the local streams.

What made the trip so special was how every moment felt like a new adventure. Whether we were hiking through the Palmetto Trail, paddling in Congaree, or just enjoying a quiet evening under the stars, there was always something new to discover. The Carolinas have this incredible mix of vibrant city life, stunning natural beauty, and rich cultural history.

It's the perfect destination for a family road trip. If you're thinking about taking an RV trip, I can't recommend the Carolinas enough. It's a place where you can make memories that will last a lifetime. And definitely check out Crooked Oaks RV Park if you're looking for a comfortable, convenient spot to stay. They're super family-friendly and make everything so easy.

I had to share how awesome this trip was. I hope it gives you some ideas for your next family adventure. Let me know if you decide to go—I'd love to hear all about it! Safe travels!
